Passport expiration

Hello all,
My name is vijay kumar. I am with J-1 visa. My passport will expires on 05.16.2011. I would like to apply for J-1 waiver and renewal of my passport. Please let me know which one I should do first? waiver or passport renewal?

I don't think the order matters much. If the passport renewal takes time, I suggest you file for the waiver first. If it doesn't, then you could get a new passport first. The J1 waiver case will take 3-6 months, so you should get started early.
 
J1 waiver nowadays takes normally between 8 months easily. If you have a knowledge of a proper channels of applying then it gets done pretty quicker. And wiaver is the thing that you need to get it done first.
