I am planning to apply for an F-1 visa for a 2-year MBA program. My passport is valid until March 2005. Following is an excerpt from some official website-
"Required Documentation: 2) A passport valid for travel to the United States and with a validity date at least six months beyond the applicant's intended period of stay in the United States,"
which can be found at the following location:
From this, I gather that I may not be able to apply for the student visa using my current passport (as my intended period of stay is May 2005 and six months beyond that is Nov 2005). However, my home country (india) does not allow a passport to be renewed until it has been expired or is very close to being expired.
I would highly appreciate any suggestions on what can be done.
Thanks in advance,
Rajat
