Passport application: different middle names on Nat. Cert. and DL

Hi,

My interview is still three weeks from now, so perhaps I am asking this question too early, still here it is:

As far as I understand that the spelling of my name on the Naturalization Certificate will be the same as on my Birth Certificate (I am NOT requesting the name change as they do not do the same day name change during the Oath Ceremony at my DO.) The problem is that on my Driver's License and Social Security card my middle name is listed as, say, Anders. At the same time, my middle name on the Naturalization Certificate is listed as, say, Anderson. In other words, the middle name on the Naturalization Certificate is longer.

Once I get the Naturalization Certificate, would I be able to apply for passport by showing my current DL with the shorter version of my middle name? Or I will have first to change spelling on the DL and SS card and only then to apply for the passport?

Thanks for your input.

Go and directly apply for the passport. You don't need to change your DL or SS first. However, I would still suggest changing your SS card first, because the Social Security office will only look at your natz certificate but they won't keep it, whereas your natz certificate will be taken from you for a few days or weeks.

My middle name was just a initial "A" instead of Full Middle name everywhere in SS, Driver's Licence and Green Card.

When I apply for naturalization I did the same. But when at the time of Interview on yesterday for Naturalization the officer checked my file and she print the full middle name in that place and told me it should be like that in the naturalization certificate.

I was curious whether I need to add my Middle name everywhere (SS,Drivers Licence) even I apply for US passport?

You should visit the SS office to let them know you are a citizen, so when you do that you can give them your full middle name and they will send an updated card in a couple weeks.

The driver's license can wait until you renew it next time. It is very common to have just a middle initial on the license.
