Passport application at Oath Center ?

The officer who interviewed me handed over the approval letter along with application form for the passport and mentioned to me that "They" accept application at the Oath Center after the ceremony. Since I don't remember having read any info on this, putting 3 questions here:

Q1) Is this correct information that "They" process passports at Oath Center or did I hear something wrong ?

Q2) If Yes, Can one do "expedited" Passport at the Oath Center ?

Q3) If there are approx. 800 people at Oath Ceremony , would it be wise to go to local post office by appointment rather than standing in a long queue at Oath Center as majority of 800 people sworn in may want to apply for passport then and there ?

Thank you for the answers in advance.
However I can get answer only if anyone is contributing to this thread after oath :-)

I do not know the answer - I would like to read more about this, in particular is there an exception to the rule of mailing the Naturalization Certificate together with the Application, since the Acceptance Agents are the very same persons who just handed out the Natz certificate and can easily verify its authenticity...

I am not (yet) a US Citizen however I would find this type of information useful.

1) Yes. The State Department has a booth/stand and at my oath ceremony in CA, they even had folks selling passport pictures.

2) Yes, you can apply expedited. Make sure the person taking your application marks "expedited" on the envelope before mailing it.

3) It depends. My ceremony had 915, but there wasn't much of a line for a passport. Either most don't want to apply then or whatever.

I applied for my passport at my oath ceremony and received it today.

CONCERN:
Some people are concerned about sending in your passport application before taking a copy of your naturalization certificate. This is up to you. I took a picture of it first with my digital camera and sent it on its way.

Good luck!!

If you've seen how they handle your passport application at the oath, you would probably think twice about applying there. They just dump them in large boxes without checking thoroughly. Makes me wonder how they manage not to mess up a few. 800 oath takers mean the handling of the passport applications could be pretty chaotic aferwards.
