Passed interview, but no N-652?

Hello,

I just had my interview on July 8 at the Hialeah, FL office. I applied in April, got FP in May, and received my interview letter in June for July 8, everything without problems.

During the interview, everything went smoothly, I passed the civics and English exam, and there were no problems or issues brought up by the officer. It was over quite fast. The officer congratulated me, and told me to expect the Oath letter in the mail within the next couple of weeks. I even discussed with her that I am planning a trip overseas for August 11 and I was hoping I could get my US passport in time for that; she said she was sure it would be no problem but that I may want to expedite the passport application.

So I was very happy and excited about passing the interview, but now I am seeing in the forums that people are talking about receiving a form called N-652 that says in writing that you passed the interview. I never received any paperwork, I even asked the officer if there was any paperwork she had to give me and she said no, you are fine, you are all set, just wait for the letter, you will be scheduled for an oath before the end of this month. So now I am nervous. Is it normal to not receive an N-652? It just occurred to me, I have no proof that I passed the interview. I saw her stamping my N-400 as approved, but she never gave anything to me :(

Strange, never heard from anybody not receiving one, slim chance she may have forgotten but it's not impossible, and you said you asked about getting some sort of paperwork, Did you specifically asked for N-652?

Well, I specifically asked her, "So I don't receive any paperwork", and she said, no, you are all set. So she couldn't have forgotten, right? Because I asked her. I am nervous now because it doesn't make sense.

I didn't even know a form called n-652 existed until I read the forum. I just asked her for "paperwork" because I figured she would have to give me something, but when she said there was no paperwork for this, and just to wait for the oath letter in the mail, I figured that was it. I had no reason to doubt her, she is the one who works there, right? She should know how it should be done. But now I am having second thoughts. Wish I had known to ask specifically about the n-652.

Don't worry, she put the approval stamp in front of you, granted you don't have any proof you had your interview and passed but I think it will still be ok, but this is a first one for me that a person not getting a 652.

Thanks for the positive thoughts :) I will try calling USCIS on Monday to find out more about it.

What happened to you is pretty irregular; the IO is required to give you an N-652 at the end of the interview. I remember seeing one post in this forum where someone reported a similar thing happening to them, but in general this is pretty rare. The IO may have forgotten, or may be a new and inexperienced IO who has not yet learned the ropes. The important thing, however, is that your application was approved. In all likelihood you will indeed get an oath letter in a couple of weeks, as the IO told you. If you are really worried, you could schedule an INFOPASS appointment and ask them to give you your copy of N-652 there.

Thanks everyone. I will give it a week or so, and after that I will schedule an infopass appointment as you recommended. I guess I can always cancel the appointment if I get the notice in the meantime.

Update: I received my Oath Notice today for July 23 in Hialeah, FL! So for future reference to others who go through the same experience, it is ok if you don't get the n-652 after the interview (although I would still ask for it, just for peace of mind). Thanks everyone for your feedback!
