Parents visiting from India

Hi all,
My parents already have 10 yrs multiple entry visa.Am planning to bring them from india,as am pregnant now.How long can they stay in USA?
If its for 6 months... How can i get their stay extended?
One of friend told me that i can take them to canada & when we come back ,we can get them a new I 94 for another 6 months, is that true?
If not what else can be done to extend their stay for atleast another 3 or 4 months?
 
A typeical I-94 for a visitor is granted for 6 months. A B2 visa is NOT for caring for a pregnant woman or for a newborn. They may not go to Canada and return with a new I-94 for 6 months.

You may seek an extension of stay but is is unlikely to be granted for the reeasons you give. In addition, it will require them to remain outsside the US for a longer period of time before reentering or risk a denial of entry, a limited stay I-94, or a notation on their passport.

American standards expect that a pregnant woman can care for herself and other children with the assistance of only her husband; a couple should easily be able to care for a newborn without the need to have the parents/grandparents work in the home.

If you are unable to care for yourself or your child, hire a housekeeper, nanny, nurse or doula.
