Parents Interview in Mexico - any help appreciated

Hi everyone, I just joined the forum, and am hoping someone might be able to help with some questions I have.

We are trying to bring my husband's parents here from Mexico. We are doing this through the attorney that helped my husband <who has been a US citizen for 4 years :) >.
Their interview is next week.
We just found out today that they wouldn't get their passport right away!

Has anyone ever been through this recently? If so how did it work? Did your loved ones have to go back home and wait for their passport to arrive?

We had hoped they could cross over the border that day, so my husband could bring them home with him and we could celebrate Christmas together.

I'm wondering, and I do intend to ask the attorney this as well, if they could stay in Juarez, and get their passport there instead of having to go all the way back home, wait then come all the way back. It's expensive, and so much traveling as well.

Any info, advice, or experiences would be appreciated in this.

Thanks!

Yes, while I don't specifically know about the procedures at the consulates in Mexico, the usual procedure after the consular interview is for the passports to be delivered to their home in about 3-7 days. Possibly longer if there are any complexities that require higher-level review (e.g. immigration violations in the past).
