Parent GC Still Pending at CSC - Filed on 8/29/06

Hi,

I am a US citizen and filed I-130/485 concurrently on 8/29/2006 for my parents' green card. The applications were mailed to the Chicago lockbox and later transferred to California Service Center on 9/12/2006 - FP were done on 9/19/2006 - and roughly in November/December 2006 we got an update saying I-130/I-485 were pending at CSC - and then never heard anything since.

Since the I-130 processing date is already 9/13/06 as of March 15, 07 - (I-485 processing date is 8/21/06 as of March 15,07), I called USCIS and requeted an inquery on 3/21/07 and was told it will take 45 days for them to respond - as of today 4/21/07 I still have not received anything yet -

My question is that at this point is there anything I can do to know what exactly is the status, or pending on? or to speed this up? Is an InfoPass will help in this situation? or write a letter to the CSC?

Also are there any similar cases with the same timeline out there? If so please share your experiences - any advices from previous experiences will beappreciated -

8/29/06 -- I130,I485 sent to Chicago
9/11/06 -- tranferred to CSC
9/19/06 -- FP/ASC
since 11/20/06 pending at CSC

Usually when parents cases are transferred to CSC, they are approved relatively quickly without interview. We have seen a few cases where it took longer due to name check.

Possibly your cases are waiting for FBI namecheck to be completed. You can call USCIS 800 number or schedule an INFOPASS to find out the status. Check the first page of parents sticky thread for others' experiences with transfer to CSC.

FBI Name Check pending

I applied for my parents GC back in December. Mothers GC got approved fairly quickly in about 60 days but my Fathers 1-130/I-485 is still pending at CSC. When I had called last month, I was told his FBI name check is pending. So don't know how long will be the wait before GC gets approved, keeping fingers crossed.

Hi visaapplicant,

I did call the 1-800 number to inquire on the status about one month ago - and asked about the reason for the pending, and the person did not give me any specific reasons other than saying the case is pending which I already knew - Will a trip to the local INS office through InfoPass ( I have to take at least half day off in order to do so) be helpful? Does the people at the local INS office have more information than the 1-800 customer service reps?

Also I heard about some people saying that contacting a congressman will help if my cases are indeed stuck in the name check?

Any advice will be appreciated.
