Hello Everyone,
I sent in my application for permanent residency in August 2004. I got married November 2004 and was planning on updating my application (Changing my Marital status and sending in my wife's paperwork). I still havent updated my application and was planning on doing so by end of this month.
Today I recieved a packet from the Canadian Consulate which asked me to provide the police certificates (FBI stuff), take medical exam and provide proof of employment from current employer.

Can I still update my application? Should I update the application right now or send in all the paperwork (incluiding my wife's) when I am sending in my police certificates?
Will updating my application cause a big delay in the GC process?
Thanks

Raju

Hi Raju,

You MUST inform inform the Canadian consulate about the change in your marital status. The earlier you do it the better. In your case the background and security checks have been initiated. When you add your wife to your application her background and security check will also start so the earlier you update your information the earlier your case will be finished.

Complete the forms to add your spouse to your application and send it out ASAP. If you can include any additional documents that they have requested that is fine but dont wait till you collect all the police and FBI clearance as you will further delay your application.

When the Canadian consulate gets your information they will send the medical forms for your wife and then you can get your medical done. Hope this helps.

Raju;

I had similar situation like you , send a letter to CIC inform them them that you are married, fill all the forms and send them the fee.

You should immediately get the request to do your wifes medical.
