Hi,
I am a pakistani citizen and am currently on OPT. I came into the country on a F-1 student visa. My OPT is expiring in August 08. My visa on which I entered the country is expiring in Nov 08. (I did my Bachelors degree on this visa).
I have applied for a specialists degree in my field of study which is a continuation of my Bachelors degree and was accepted into the program at the same university. I want to keep my status legal. I was thinking of giving up my OPT status in June and doing one semester then going to Canada in July to renew my visa and returning in July to do the the Fall semester.
1. If I don't get it, will I be able to re-enter the US eventhough my visa is expiring in Nov and I am going earlier in the year that is in july to get it renewed?
2. Is it easier to go to Canada and get a visa or is it easier to get one from ones home country (Pakistan in my case)?
3. Which embassies in Canada are more favorable?
4. Will it be better to do one semester June (summer one) of my Specialist degree so as to show that my intent is to get my degree or does it not matter?
I am concerned due to the current political situation.
Thanks,
