packet 4 & interview date at consulate

Hi Guys,
I was wondering if someone can tell whether to get packet 4 at indian address or US address? I would prefer to ahve it in US address as in my case the consulate I will be going to is Mumbai but my home town is in west bengal.
But I have seen several postings mentioning that one should get packet4 at india address.
Any comments?

Also,how much time is it taking now a days to get the interview scheduled after consulate receives packet 3?

Request P4 in usa and then if you want, your friends can pick up a duplicate appointment letter from the consulate or have the consulate mail a duplicate p4 to any address in india.

It is taking about 4 months (+/ - 15 days) to get the cp interview from the time you mail your p3 to nvc (1 week to mail p3 and for nvc to acknowledge receipt of your p3, 2 weeks to nvc to review your p3, 2 weeks for nvc to mail your p3 to consulate, 1 week for consulate to enter p3 in system + 2.5 months to get interview).

answer: If you know approx month when you will have the interview then you can try requesting a specific week in that month as long as you have a valid reason. There is no harm done. But at the same time, you cannot request a specific month.

How good are they in tresponding by email if I can provide them my case no.?
answer: I have sent an email last week, no response yet. I think the response time is about 2 weeks. Better option is to call them between 9am-4pm IST M-F. Ideal time is 9am IST which is 11:30pm EST! One needs to understand that Mumbai consulate is busy with their work and may take longer to respond to individual emails. Numbers are 011-91-22-2363-7407/ 7408
