I was filling the DS230 form and had a few questions to ask :

1. I will be applying for Interview in New Delhi. I have mentioned Languages spoken and read as English and Hindi in educational details.Do I need to write my name in Native alphabet ( which is hindi in my case ) ?

2.In the educational schools institutions attended , I am able to fill up details from my 9th grade onwards . Do I need to fill up my details before 9 th grade , I mean from 1st grade to 8 th grade . If so how do I do that as the space is only for four schools.

Thanks in advance.

Here is how I completed my P3

I mentioned Languages spoken and read as English, Hindi and Telugu. I left the filed blank for Native alphabet. My Native language is Telugu.

2.In the educational schools institutions attended , I am able to fill up details from my 9th grade onwards . Do I need to fill up my details before 9 th grade , I mean from 1st grade to 8 th grade . If so how do I do that as the space is only for four schools.

I mentioned like this:

10 Class (Board of secondary education)

+2 (Intermediate)

Engineering (B Tech)

Thanks.

{It is difficult to get info. on this item. From what I came to
know from my attorney, this is meant for some countries where
the name in native language is different than what it is in
English (ex: Chinese).

I understood it some thing like this.

If your name is Suraj in your native language and if it is
anglicised as Mr.Sun.

Anyway what I did was, I just filled -none- in that item, and
did not face any questions}

{Just enter your undergraduate and graduate degrees }

Thanks in advance.

Same here my attorneys told me to leave native name field blank and then for degress/ educaiton i had put details on my bachelors and masters from india and then my masters in usa!

One of my friends had applied for H4 visa at mumbai consulate sometime back.

At the Andheri office (where he submitted his application before the interview at the consulate), for DS230, he left the native language field blank.

When the lady asked him to write it in his native, he told her he did not know his native and he could not write it. She asked him to write it in English then. Obviously, this would be the same as the "applicant's name".

He wrote it in English and no questions asked at the consulate. He got the H4.

I did not know that usa consulate had a office in andheri. That shows that i have not gone to bombay for 4 years now!

Interesting to know that the lady at the consulate asked him to fill his name in english where the text box was provided for name in native language!

It is not a sub-office of the consulate,but a sort of Visa application center.The applicant submits all the paperwork,passport and draft, etc .This office checks all of them to make sure everything is filled out and all necessary documents are there and then schedules an interview and gives a print out.

With this print out, one needs to go to the Actual Consulate on Bulabhai Desai to attend the interview.
