Overstaying in the past but can get GC through US citizen son

Hi all,
I was overstaying in the US but has a son who was born there. When he is 17 years old, he can sponsor me to get green card.

My question, what and how, if any, my overstay record be affecting my green card application?

He has to be 21 to sponsor you.
If you are still subject to a ban at the time he can apply for a waiver.

It shouldn't affect your GC.

No. Immigrant intent is not a problem for an immigrant visa, though it might be an issue for attempted entry on non-immigrant status.
