Hello all
I was in the U.S. as a tourist last year when I suffered an ischemic stroke that caused the left side of my body to get semi-paralyzed. I was hospitalized for one week in the U.S., and after I was discharged from the hospital doctors said it was unsafe for me to travel by plane for at least 30 days after the stroke. This caused me to overstay the stamp on my passport for 4 days (my stroke was november 21, the passport stamp said I could stay until december 17, and I left on december 21).
I am now applying for an F visa to pursue a Doctorate in the U.S. Actually my interview in the consulate is tomorrow, but I'm freaking out about the possibility of getting a denial. Of course I will bring to the consulate my medical records and letter from the doctor, and all the other documents (university admission, I-20, Sevis, etc) are ok.
Any advice on what are my chances of getting the F visa?
(PS: I'm from Brazil)
