Hi Guys,

my wife went out to india for possibly more than 6 months but less than a year typically for 8 to 9 months.. will that be a problem and we did not apply for re-entry permit.

your views are appreciated.
 
This is only my opinion. Please take it with a grain of salt.

With GC away for < 6 months - Counts towards continued Residency, no entry problem as such. (unless it is a habit, then u may need to do some explaining at the POE)

With GC away for >6 months <12 months - Can reneter w/o much problem but time not counted as continuous residency.

Wih GC > 12 months - Can be considered as abandonment by INS.

I am still not clear about going more than 6 months and less than 1 year point.. without re-entry permit..
any more suggestion's would be of great help..

so i guess as long as my wife can show her residency proof and some valid documents she should be fine... :)

she is planning to stay for 8 months.
