We completed the oath yesterday. Timing was at noon. We were there at the courthouse (219 S. Dearborn) at 11:30am. We had to complete the back side of the oath form and sign it. We were allowed to enter the room with the completed oath form and also our Green Card. We stood in a line and we were called where one officer took a look at our form and also took the Green Card away from us. Then we were made to sit and were asked not to change seats as the certificate of naturalization would be distributed in the same order. At about 12:15pm, the officer just briefed us about the oath process and answered our questions. We were given a citizenship packet which had the constitution book etc. and also a US passport application form.
At 1pm sharp, the judge came into the room and then we took the oath followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. We were done in 10 minutes. Then the certificate of naturalization was distributed in the order we were seated. Checked for the spelling and every other detail. People who had name change had other certificated attached as well which had the old name and the new name.
While we were getting out of the room there were people who had come over with Register to Vote form. We completed it and handed the form back and were told we would be mailed the voting card in 4 weeks.
We came out of the building by 1:25pm. Walked over to the SSN building office and filled the form to change the SSN office. This took about 30 minutes. We were all done by 2:30pm
Overall the process was very smooth and no surprises.
