Original Naturlization Certificate for Passport

I heard that when you apply for a passport, you need to submit your original naturilization certificate - is this correct?

If so, and you want to petition for a relative, or if you want to keep a record of your citizenship do you need to pay the $210 to file the N-565 to replace your Natz citizenship document?

I guess my main concern is that I do not just want my passport as proof of citizenship, I want something else as well to prove citizenship.

Thanks!

Hey buster!
Yes, it's correct. You do need to send your naturalization certificate with your passport application. But, that doesn't mean you say goodbye to your certificate. It will come back to you. Otherwise, if we follow your logic, every passport holder should have filed N-565.
Make sure to make a copy of your certificate before you send it. Note that you should make a copy yourself, since it is not allowed to copy the certificate.
