Hi,
I only have bottom half of the Original I-797 as my employer kept the top half. I DO HAVE the copy of the top half. Is this sufficient to get the visa stamped in India? I have interview next week. Please reply.
Also the top half says that:
"Employer should keep the top portion and lower portion should be given to the worker. A person granted a change of status that leaves the US must normally obtain a visa in the new classification before returning. The left part can be used in applying for the visa"
My questions:
1. Any body has done stamping with just taking original lower portion of the I-797 and copy of the top petition? Was any questions asked about not having top portion?
2. Even if you had complete notice, did they ask while interview to show them?
I asked my employer but he is on vacation and can not get back to me before next week for the original top portion of 797.
Please share your experience.
