Hi folks,
I'm getting ready for my interview on Thursday this week.
While I prepare a file for myself and my wife with all the possible original documents that may be requested by the Immigration Officer, I have the following question:
I know that in the original Interview Notification letter, it is asked that certain documents be presented, and it clearly indicates that original documents are required.
In addition to the ones requested, I am also taking several others, just to be on the safe side.
1) If the officer asks to keep any of the documents, can it be expected that the original documents are returned to us during the interview? (e.g. things like employment offer letters, termination letters, etc., which I would not want to let the original go.)
2) After seeing the originals, does the officer want to normally keep them on record for our files or are they simply required for presentation?
3) Can an applicant request or insist that the originals not be taken away and that a photocopy be made for our file? (I mean is the officer also certified to be a notary and stamp a photocopy to be a "true copy" and return the original to the applicant)
4) If none of the above is possible, I'm thinking of getting a notary to attest a duplicate set of photocopies of all originals I take with me to the interview, to be "true copies". If the officer asks for any document, I could offer the attested photocopy for him/her to keep (after presenting the original ofcourse). Is this acceptable?
I would really appreciate a reply to the above, especially from someone who has been through an interview and been asked for any original documents.
