Hello, everyone,

I have a question about preparing document for the N-400.

From USCIS web site: "If you have ever been arrested or detained by any law enforcement officer for any reason, and no charges were filed, send:
An original official statement by the arresting agency or applicant court confirming that no charges were filed."

Why is that? I thought we usually send out copy and keep the original for the interview. And that really makes sense to me. Am I wrong this time?

Thanks.

Send copy and bring original to interview. But if you have obtained several originals from court, you can send one in now.

I seem to recall reading in the instructions to send copies but take the originals to the interview. If there were any dispositions then you will need Certified copies of them from the Court. They usually charge for the Certified copies.
