Original Birth certificate at Chennai-Please Help!!

I came to know that the chennai consulate is also asking for the original birth certificate from OCT 1st 2005. Is it true. Do we have to send original or a notarized photocopy will do. Please advise

Yeah I heard that too.
My in-laws just got their visas from the chennai consulate and I did mail them my orginal BC, my wifes too and also the marriage certificate just to be on the safer side. Its always good to fedex them as thats more safe.

But the ladie who was interviewing them did not ask for the orginals. All they asked was details about my father in law's business and then for my documents.
