Hello All,

I just called my attorney and informed that we got our I-485 approval notices. She said "our office has not received the original notices yet.
You will need the originals to complete the I-89 and finalize the greencard process at the local Newark USCIS office. I will give you a call when we receive the originals to go over this final step"

Do we need the original approval notice? or courtesy copy is enough to get the stamp?

Please advise.

Regards,
Lahari

My attorney also said I need original notice instead of courtesy copy.
I know some posting here said courtesy copy as well as approval Email is OK. Now I am waiting for original copy which sent on last Monday, 06/21/2004.
My attorney said he sent some tips for visa stamping.

The lawyer gets the Original copy and you get the Courtsey copy. The Courtsey copy along with old EADs, APs, Two photographs, PP and whatever documents they have asked and to be on safer side also take few other documents (like your Pay-stub/W2/..)

I still need to go for my stamping but in NYC and I am gathering few more information as to when I should reach the office and how long wait should I expect.

Do I have to bring expired EADs and APs(unused)?

Thanks

Time taken for getting approval letters

I was approved on June 17. Till now I have not receive the courtesy copies and the attorney also has not received the originals. Do I need to worry about this????

Courtesy Copy is fine for stamping. I did it myself, didnt wait for the Attorney to receive the Original and then send it to me.
You need to handover your EAD's and any un-expired AP documents, if they ask for it. I have seen several postings where they never asked for it. I just carried mine with me and I was asked for it.
Good Luck !!!

I got my stamping showing the printed version of my E-mail notice by CIS. The lady at the counter at the Arlington, VA office, looked at my E-mail notice and stamped in my passport. In fact, they can find out from the system whether your I-485 is approved. The notice ( original or courtesy copy) is only a formal way of intimation. With the introduction of new registration and E-mail updates, things are made easy. I strongly believe we should make use of these enhancements. Getting stamp thru E-mail notice gave me lot of benefits. I could go to my country the next day of stamping ( I booked my tkt long time back) and come back as a permanent resident.

Newark PP Stamping

Hi ,
I did my stamping today at Newark using the courtsey copy. The whole process took me 3.5 hours. Reached braod street office at 8.15 AM went to the third floor & stood in the queue for about 40 mins for signature & index finger FP & token #.
They asked me for EAD & AP. I gave them current EAD & AP. At some counters they were even asking for expired EADs or APs. It is safe to carry them.

Got my passport stamped with i-551 at around 11.45 AM.

No need of appointment for Stamping. Just land up early and you can get out of there pretty fast. I went for my stamping in Atlanta at 6.15 am, was out of there at 7.45 am. :)

I am waiting since 18th

I was approved 18th, still no letters.

You do not need original approval for stamping, courtesy copy is enough for stamping.
