Oralando DO Rocks

Folks,
I have been impressed by the customer service I have received from Orlando DO. For that matter, INS has been very kind to me. They always exceeded the expectaion.

I had interview yesterday. I was a bit late. They were funny and accommodating. I was done in a very short time. In fact, I spend more time getting the picture done. I applied in July last year and I have oath this friday. I requested them for early oath and they understood my constraint accommodated. In fact, I even asked for their number. Officer gave me the number for any questions without any hesistation.

So, as for as I am concerned, Orlando DO rocks and so does my inteviewing officer. The only thing I do is I do not beat around the bushes. Simple, clear, and straight answer. I took only the papers they had requested: SS registration, GC, and passport. And that is all I needed.

Sounds good...no sounds great!!!!! Last night I was thinking, people complain about customer service, I would take INS customer service any day over what hotels, telephone, UPS, etc are offering, airlines are offering.

Wish you all the very best.

Looks like you haven't had the pleasure of any of the following (to name a few):
- calling their 800 #,
- infopass,
- name check,
- dual A file
- priority date delays during GC
- Wrong name/date on the GC
- signing a waiver to sue USCIS during interview due to name check delays
etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. :p :p :p

At least most of the time when call the customer service for hotel/ariline/phone etc. you get your issues reoslved and to certain extent they appreciate you as a customer.

Anyways... good luck and best wishes to you :)

It's good to note that Orlando DO is improving. When I went through my citizenship application they used to be one of the worst DO's in the whole country! It used to take 2 years for N-400 processing!

Even until last year, they used to to take 15 - 18 months for N-400 on an average! Hopefully, this improvement will stay and is just not a temporary rush to clear the backlog. USCIS is notorious for moving around its work force to work on different type of applications and just shift the backlog around within its office.

Good News

It was nice to hear of a DO being so HUMBLE unlike the MORONs at the Philadelphia District Office.

My ONLY conclusion is that the older staff may have retired or had serious medical issues (like terminal HEMMORIOID where they cant sit on thier seats any more) from the CURSES cast upon them by prior applicants who were HARRASSED by the DO, and now they have YOUNG fresh blood who view the world with an OPEN mind.

My 2 Cents dont delay ur Interview , If you can make that interview then it would be nice or if you can wait for couple of months then re schedule..this is more of personal choice it will delay the process.

Thanks

Sharma

Orlando DO really, really rocks

Ok. I am newbie for this forum or any forum at this website.

Just want to give more information about Orlando DO for N-400 cases. I guess it is the fastest in the whole country now. I applied in first week of June and got FP middle of June and just got the interview letter for August interview. I really appreciate good job for the folks at Orlando District office. Keep it up USCIS, Orlando, DO. I am preparing for the interview that is scheduled in August.

For any one applying for N-400 in Orlando region, keep your spirits up. Your DO office staff working hard to keep processing super fast.

Inverview experience at Orlando, DO

My wife and I had our interview process completed at Orlando DO yesterday. It was a breeze and fairly un-eventful.

We reached USCIS office at 7-30 AM, (near Orlando International airport) and found naturalization interviews are done at separate building (9411 Tradeport Dr., just near by building) different from address specified on interview letter. There was no mad rush at the entrance. We got through security (no cell, pager, PDA, water, gels etc) and we waited almost an hour before we were called-in for inveterview. My observation: there was no pattern on who gets called in first. People with interview time at 8-45 AM called at 8.15 AM and so on.

Interview itself was pretty smooth. There was an issue with my name spelling and officer corrected it after verifying affidavits that I submitted along with my green card back in 1999. BTW, I was surprised to see my file contained all information and all the copies of documentation that I submitted for Green Card. I took pile of documentation with me: bank statement, traffic citation court proof records etc. I was asked for none of the extra documentation that I bought me. At the end, the officer (a Hispanic dude and extremely nice guy) congratulated me and told me to wait for oath letter. I was concerned that my application approval could be delayed due my name mis-spell issues. However, it seems I am having a lucky day. After half an hour later, I was given oath letter for September 15th oath at Orange County Convention center. I believe USCIS has a massive ceremony as many as thousands getting naturalized on that day.

We both got our oath letters for the September 15th. It took close to 3 months from filing date to interview. Not bad at all for Orlando DO which is infamous for its backlog. Good job for folks who work at Orlando USCIS, DO.

For any one interested in my timeline:
Receipt/Notice Date: 06/1/2006.
FP: 06/17/2006.
Interview Date: 08/21/2006
Oath Date: 09/15/2006
