options to travel without AP

Hi All,

In July i added my wife to my pending 485 application. afterwards i have received approval for me and receipt notice for her. Her AP is still pending (and may take a while as we all know). As she was on H4 , she does not have an independent status. However we both have to travel out of country next month. we will be out for at least a year .

I have following assumptions
1) I have to apply for a reentry permit
2) If she travels before receiving AP, her 485 would be considered abandoned.

If 2) is correct then what are My options ?
a) File for her 824 and go for CP ( which may take a long time ) . If this is feasible , can any body give some pointers

b) let her stay back till she gets AP ( really dont want to do this).

Please let me know if i have any other options or how should i follow option a).

Tough question. Since her H4 is no longer valid, I don't think there is any option other than CP. But filing CP could mean waiting for years to enter the US, due to upcoming retrogression. And remember that if you do get an AP for her, it is valid for a maximum of one year.

Let's wait for others to comment, but I doubt anybody else will come up with anything more.
