I wonder about the options available to a green card holder who wants to marry a woman from his country. Does she really have to wait 5 years to get her green card? is there a way with which she can stay in the country until these 5 years pass? Bear in mind that she is back home and does not currently live in America. thanks for any responses.

How much longer until you become eligible for naturalization? The best choice is to wait until then.

The best choice would be to get here on a student visa and you wait till u get a citizen and apply for her..that way her status is never illegal...many of my friends have done that...its tough finanicialy but some schools allow only 6 credits to be taken per semester..the point is to stay legal as long as u can..usually masters takes 2 years but some have prolonged it for 4 years..

3 more years + however much long the processing time takes in my city. I heard that in some cities it takes up to 3 years :(

She can then apply for student visa. BCIS wont like it if they find out that she has plans to permenantly settle in the US through marrage to you. Just keep that in mind. What's important now is to bring her to the US. 3 years wait is nothing, time really flies by.
