Options after OPT expires. H1 or STEM OPT?

Hello Sir,

My OPT expired on July 5th 2011. I am on the 60 day grace period. Can I apply for a STEM OPT from the university if my degree is eligible for STEM?

If that is not an option, can I have an employer file my H1 under premium processing?
If I get the H1 approval within the grace period, will I have to leave the country after grace period and come back in October or can I continue here till then?

Your help is really appreciated.

What are the eligibility requirements for the 17-month extension of post-completion OPT?

The student must have a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctorate degree included in the STEM Designated Degree Program List.
The student must currently be in an approved post-completion OPT period based on a designated STEM degree.
The student’s employer must be enrolled in E-Verify.
The student must apply on time (i.e., before the current post-completion OPT expires).
