Options after 7 year period ends w/Labor pending

I am on a L-1 visa and it will expire in March 1, 2004. I've already used my 7 years so there are no more extensions available to me.

My company is processing my GC but my labor certification is pending approval (filed April 2002 and SESA is currently processing November 2001). At this time it does not appear that I will be able to file I-140 and I-485 prior to the expiration of my visa.

I will like to know what my options are. My company's lawyers told me that I will have to leave the country for one year.

Do I have any other options?

I've read that I can be out of status for upto 180 days and still be able to file I-140 and I-485, assuming my labor certification gets approved before the expiration of the 180 days.

If not, can I be on a tourist visa for 3 months, and hope that the labor certification gets approved before May 2003. Will I be able to file I-140 and I-485 then?

Please help!!!
