I am a PhD student at a US university. I completed my Masters from the same university a semester back.
I have got a full time offer from a company and now I want to join it as an employee. I know I can take pre-completion OPT and join the job, but the only problem is regarding the tuition fee. To maintain F1 status I will have to pay full tuition fee ( which is too much) for the duration in which I am on pre-completion OPT. I am planning to take a Leave of Absence (LOA) from my university. Can I apply for OPT before applying for LOA? At cornell university website they say that one can do this and still maintain status, but I haven't found any such specific information.
Any help will be highly appreciated.
