My OPT expires May 31st. What if I get married and apply for a Green Card and new EAD prior to that date, but do not receive my card before May 31st.. will my OPT be automatically extended and will I be able to keep working? I know if I apply for change of status before OPT expires I'm allowed to legally STAY in the US but what about working? I know OPT's get extended when H1B applications are pending, but is it the same rule with Green Cards?

Thank you for your help!

No, your OPT will not be extended based on your pending green card process. If you work after it expires without a new EAD, it would be illegal unemployment.

Jack is right, if you work after OPT expires without having new EAD you would be illegally employed. Be careful and plan accordingly. Look for current EAD processing times.
