OPT, Practical Training Question

I am posting following questions for a friend.

She will graduate this summer. She applied OPT two weeks ago. If she can not get the OPT approval before graduation, is she legal to stay?

If she gets OPT in time, can she use it to apply for any job, or she can only work in the job related to her major?

You are in legal status while waiting for OPT.
You can even work in a gas station legally with OPT. It doesnt have to be related to your major. My work is not related to my major and I didnt get any problems.

One more question, can my friend work while waiting for OPT?
 
I don't think so. OPT should be approved before they can start working. Check with school immigration dept for exact information.
