Hi all,
I have a very tricky situation. I am currently on OPT that is valid until Dec 19 08 while my date on I-20 is May 17th 08. The office of international services refused to extend the I-20 since they say its too late. I already have a job offer and had applied for H1 that got approved through a consultant.
I still have to defend masters degree before 20 july however the office of international services in my school tells me I am out of status and to stay here I need to reinstate my F1 status that might take upto 3 months.
I am concerned if I am legally out of status (even with a valid OPT) since I have not yet graduated. Also what must I do to keep myself legal.
Also I have heard for people who pursue phd joining jobs while on OPT and coming back to defend their PhDs later. Is it not the same for Masters?
Please if somebody could guide I will be very helpful.
