Opt-h1b

I am now working on my CPT and waiting for my OPT (SD 04/30/02, RD 05/06/02, ND 05/23/02). Me and my employer are planning to apply for my H1B through premium processing. What will happen if i get my H1b before my OPT. is there any problem in applying so? and more information in this regard will be appreciated.

My feeling is that once you change your status to H1, you no longer have the OPT. This means that your employment will be tied to the employer that sponsored your H1. You cannot work for another employer without another H1 petition. The OPT is always tied to your F1 status. You may also end up paying more tax (I think an additional 7.5% for social security).
