OPT Grace period

Hello !

My OPT is expiring shortly. I heard that a 60 day grace period is allowed before departing from the U.S. So my questions are :

1. Is the 60 day period correct ?
2. Would this adversly affect any future immigration / visa grants ?
3. Should INS be notified in any manner informing them that you are availing the grace period ?
4. Is this a good/safe idea ?

Any advice is appreciated.

Grace period is just that, not something officially sanctioned

So there is no specific need to inform the INS. You can always say that after OPT you wanted to dispose property like car and do some touring.
