OPT; grace period; H-4

Hallo guys,

I am an H-1. My wife is graduating on May 19th. She would like to set her OPT starting date on July 10th (that is, use her Grace Period to stay in USA). Is this safe?

If her OPT gets dennied (I know such chance is slim but anything can happen these days), can she apply H-4 or she has to leave immediately?

her opt will not get denied and she can convert to H4 without any problem since you have an H1. But the wiser way would be to get her an OPT as then it will be easy for her to get a job and get an H1B. A lot of companies shy away from H4 visa holders.
