OPT extension

Hi,
I have my OPT (sept 2001 to sept 2002). I heard that by paying $100 fee to INS and submitting an application, we can apply for OPT extension for another 6months even after using all 12months on OPT. Is this true?

I have not heard about such a thing. Perhaps the person is confusing CPT with OPT. CPT can be for more than 12 months, but then you dont get any amount of OPT.
 
I don't think one can extend OPT.

Let us know incase u get more info about OPT since it
can help lot of F1 grad students.

I heard that a greencard family member can file some paperwork and pay fees and then it is possible for extension of OPT. Is this true?

Anyone did this? any information is greatly appreciated.

Dont think this is true. Perhaps person is confusing OPT based EAD and green card (I-485) based EAD. I suppose the latter can be extended.
