I have a few questions regarding my OPT extension.
Currently My OPT is getting over on Feb 15th and I need to apply for OPT extension.
I am working as an independent contractor (1099) since May 2010. My employer has agreed to register for E-Verify program.
But we have a few doubts.
1) Can I extend my OPT on 1099 (I do satisfy all other conditions laid under STEM extension)?
2) I was hired on 1099 in May 2010 and my employer is going to register for E-Verify program now i.e in November 2010, does he have to run me through the e-verify program and can he run me through that as I am on 1099?
3) Was anyone in a similar situation and was his/her extension granted?
Any kind of information would of great help to me.
