Hi, I was on my OPT and it expires on 4th Dec 2006. I know that I have 60days grace period after that. I did not get a job within this opt. So I need to change my status to F2 (my husband is on F1). I need help with the following:
1) Can I apply for change of status after my opt ends, during the grace period..or it has to be done before the ending date?
2) The question is, if I apply for the status change while staying here in US before my opt ends, I dont know how long it will take for the processing. To hasten the process if I go to India during the grace period and apply for the same (F2) there...would that conflict with the application here? Will they be seen as one? Or will they be double application and have the chance of being rejected?
