Online Status for I-485

Hi all,

Could any one please tell about how to look for the status of I-485 application online?

Is it similar to the I-140? Does the USCIS automatically add the I-485 application to our portfolio list? Or, should we wait for the receipt notice and there will be a receipt number which we can use to add to the portfolio?

If your checks are enchashed already, you can get the receipt# from the back of the check, if your bank offers that service. You have to add it to your portfolio, USCIS is not going to do that (aren't you asking too much from 'em :)).

Let me know when you receive your AP approval notice in the mail. My online msg says Approval notice sent on 04/11/07, nothing so far in the mail from TSC. So would like to know what your timeline is before I start calling customer service/attorney. Thanks.

Whenever I read your signature, a question comes to my mind: Why did you file EB-1EA for your spouse? Couldn't you have included your spouse on your petition? Or it is that you got married after filing your I-140?
 
Yes, I know it's funny. I filed my I-140 (EB11) in June 2006 through a lawyer and it went to NSC. Nothing happened for long time. I did not upgrade to PP since lot of the NSC people were getting RFE and then denial. Instead we decided to file my spouse's petition by e-filing ourselves, so that it goes to TSC and we can do PP. We had very similar credentials. Only After filing his case, mine got approved, and the next day his case was approved!!! (may we should have waited another 15 more days, but who knew?) We filed our I-485 with his approved I-140 since it was at TSC. Hope, this explains....
