Online EAD

EAD Online renewal

I was applying online for EAD renewal and was unsure about one column.. Manner of last entry into US. I entered using Advance Parole and closest options i could see are

1. Parolee
2. DA:ADVANCE PAROLE(DISTRICT AUTH)

Not sure which one is appropriate.. Any insight is appreciated.

The other entries are H1B, Student, Visitor etc..

As I used my travel document I131 for re-entry.i am in dilemma what to enter in the above column..

Any thoughts??

Applied online EAD

It is a very easy process. I applied my EAD extension for myself and my wife. It took me less than 30 minutes to complete both the applications.

This saved me lot of hassles to go thru the lawyer, obtain latest photographs etc.. I need to schedule an appointment with the local INS office and go there for digital photograph and finger printing. Hopefully this shall be faster than paper filing..

Required Info:

A# OR I-94 number
Port of Entry
Last Entry Type (H1B, Advance Parole which is called DA acronymn to District Office approved Parole)
Social Security Number
Bank Account No & Bank Routing No
DOB
Place of Birth
Previous EAD details if any
Eligibility Category: C(9) Applied for I485

Feel free to ask me any questions you might have..

Would on-line filing really improve the time of processing?
Sometimes I feel that all we save is a matter of 1 week or so because of the mail delivery .
Rest all from have the same processing time frame.
Am I correct in making the above statements. Just my opinion.

May be you are right. You will certainly save a week or two by getting the reciept number right away.

Only time will tell if this process is better or worse than the paper filing..

But there is a choice now unlike before..

it might speed things up a bit

My 2 cents here:

Online filing will help alleviate a big problem at BCIS - shortage of employees.

It takes an employee several minutes to encode your data from the paper application to the computer, manually sort all the documents, remove the staples, punch a hole for folder filing, check that the pictures are there, etc, etc..... you get the picture.

So just maybe, if more people use the online method, it frees up some employees to work in the other areas of the service center and hopefully speed applications up a little bit.

Similarly, even if your application is received on Monday, it may not be until friday that it is opened and the data encoded into the computer system.

Online applications will tend to beat this bottleneck and not just the mailing time.

BCIS is strained by budget limitations and hiring new employees is not really an option, so maximizing productivity of existing employees is the new trend.
