I was successfully able to send my renewal application over internet. Received Confirmation Page with Receipt Number. Now I am trying to contact 1-800-375-5283 to schedule an appointment. But every time I call the NCS says it is busy and call later. How are we going to schedule an appointment if this is the case?

Secondly, sometimes I am able to get through but for a long time no one answers the phone. I have to wait an hour everytime this happens. Is there anyway out?

Thanks.

Sorry Dude!! None , you have to use NSC to schedule an appointment. If the local office is nearby you can go down and check with them to see if they can do the needed stuff without an appointment. Take the receipts with you and an ID

Yeah what needgc said. I got done today after trying the whole day yesterday and getting nothing but frustration.

Today I waited for more than 25 minutes and someone finally answered the phone.

I think we need to keep on monitoring this issue.
If it becomes a persistant problem ; it has to be identified as a disadvantage for efile.

Please keep us updated.

I agree. After going through so much problems yesterday, I was thinking that maybe I made a mistake by e-filing. Thankfully, when I posted the question here (in the evening) another member suggested going to the ASC directly, as a last resort.

That gave me hope. Also today at work I got some free time so I decided to try waiting for upto half an hour.

Another thing that helped was I had the key strokes all written down so I did not have to sit through those excrutiatingly painful voice prompts time and time again. It works really well if you do that.

Finally, you are supposed to have your EAC number, A number and a bunch of other details when you call. I do not know what I would have done yesterday since I was trying from a cafe and today fortunately I had those details handy.

eadwoes ,

Did u get through ?

It is strange how INS is doing things .. when I called for app. in Dec 03 my wait time was < 2min.

I remember that there was some survey abt the 800# some months back ..... Maybe as a result of that they are firing people because the result of the survey was that they add no value.

I think in the future they might have app. through the web. I now Miami has started doing that for the MAIN office ( not for the ASC) www.infopass.uscis.gov .. if this goes well they might implement it for all offices + the ASC's.

I could get through

Yesterday, I could get through fortunately with a wait time of about 40 minutes. They have given me an appointment on April 20, 2004.

Like FP, can I not go there ahead of schedule and get the photograph and FP done? That way, I can initiate the process and get ahead.

Good News

I was FPed today!!! I went with the print out of Confirmation Letter. The lady said, "Oh E-Filing" and told me that they are slow today and took my papers. She asked my ID and I produced DL, nothing else. I was finger printed immediately as there was no one in queue.

Another girl enetered my data into PC and then took FP of index finger. She scanned the bar code and that entered my SRC # into PC. Then she took my photograph and I was done. I was out of the ASC in 5 minutes of entering. Cool!!!

So guys, please do not wait. You may get your card early.

Well, good for you. Your still have an appointment for later, right?

In my case, I have my FP appointment for this Saturday AM. I took the Photo/FP appointment for my e-file on the same day but an hour later.
