Just a small question...

Is ITIN number same as SSN?
meaning, suppose I have applied for an ITIN number for my wife (on H4) and got an ITIN number, now if I apply for her SSN (on EAD), will the SSN issued will have same digits as ITIN number?
Anyone who went through this please reply...

Thanks.
Just that my wife got a job offer the only thing is that we are waiting for her SSN (applied 3 days ago, friday) and thought if its going to be same, why not give that as SSN.

Thanks once again for your quick reply.

The first number of ITIN is always 9 and SSN can never start with 9. Never try it. :D

Not having SSN by the time starting work is not an impediment. It will maybe only delay getting paid.

Once she gets SSN then they will pay her retroactively.
There are rules to pay on applied SSN too.
