One more GC Stamping Question...

Hi,
I have seen similar question posted earlier by someone but could not find it, thus posting the same again. Please help.
I received my I-485 Approval notice today and it said the following....

"The above application has been approved. The Immigration Card Facility will mail the new alien registration card directly to the applicant in approximately 120 days. If the new card is not received within this time, please call this office at the number listed below"

Does the above mean that I dont have to go to the Local District office for stamping. You advice will be greatly appreciated. I have an appt on 04/21/05.

Did you complete a biometric (code 3) FP sometime back ??
 
Yes...I did my biometric in the first week of Feb for my EAD renewal. Also one of my freiend did the same too but his I-485 approval notice did not say the same as mine.

Hmmm ... do u have a copy of the FP notice ?
If so see whether it says Code 3 or Code 1

What am thinking about is NOT the FP associated with EAD ... but its more like the usual 485 FP - where USCIS sends you a FP notice.

max2k1 -- I did not have any I-485 FP after the first one which was done almost a year back. The recent FP that I mentioned was the one I did for the e-Filed EAD at the ASC (Application Service Center) by taking an appointment.
 
Get your Passport stamped man...who knows if their 120 days are normal person's 120 days ... do not sit on such stuff . And then for any emergency travel technically you should'nt be using AP anymore, I believe. Worst scenario you will have your Passport stamp in addition to your GC
 
How long it takes

Can somebody tell me on how long it takes to receive the approval notice after the case has been approved?

For me it took 3 business days or 4 postal working days. They mailed it on 14th april 2005 and got it on 18th april 2005.

My case was approved on 14 April and LUD changed on 15th April. But I have not received any letter yet. I have already scheduled my Infopass appointment for Friday. I will go with my email approval letter for stamping. Anyone has any suggestion?

Let us know your experience with PP stamping with email approval only. Also do let us know which local office.

My approval notice took 2 weeks to arrive and all it says is your card will be mailed in 120 days. I talked to my lawyer and he says that I DO need to go to office and fill out the I-89 form and to get my passport stamped.
