Hi all,
I have mostly been a silent observer of this superb board for the last few months. I just wanted to share a letter I received from USCIS dated Feb. 29 in snail mail based on a case problem I had submitted to the CIS ombudsman in Dec. 2007 (basically I have been stuck in name check with everything else being current; see my signature for details). The letter confirms the March 10th deadline for action based on the new name check memo (though I have not heard any update on my case, so I really doubt USCIS will stick to the date).
"Thank you for your Case Problem Submission Worksheet dated December 17, 2007 to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), Ombudsman Office concerning the status of your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status. The Ombudsman's Office forwarded your Case Problem Submission Worksheet to the Customer Assistance Office (CAO) for a response. We have assigned it case # XXXXXX.
Our records reflect that your have filed a Form I-485; your application is pending beyond the current USCIS processing time; and your required FBI Name Check has been pending since March 6, 2007, over the minimum of six months. Please be advised that there is a new USCIS name check policy for cases that meet the above three criteria, and your case appears to be in a group of pending cases that is being redirected to the adjudication queue for processing.
If your specific case meets all eligibility requirements, your will be notified of a decision on the case in the near future. However, if you do not receive a notice from USCIS by March 10, 2008, it is requested that you contact the USCIS National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283.
We trust that this information is helpful."
So all those eligible under this new memo, make sure to call USCIS / service center etc. after March 10th if you have not heard anything.
Good luck to everyone!
