I was a resident in the Commonwealth of Virginia a few years ago and held VA driver's license. When I contacted Virginia DMV for a copy of my driver's record, they said they do not have my information on file because two years or more after one has moved out of the state (or surrendered VA license to the DMV in a different state), the records in VA are purged from their system.
My question is should I ask the VA DMV to give me something in writing that proves that they have indeed purged my record and do not have any information on file? Thank you very much.
