What proof does it need? If a person was charged domestic violence and his ex-wife filed restriction order 3 years ago (restriction order expired already), can this person still apply for citizenship?

What are the details of hte domestic violence charge?
If its just shouting then that's one thing.
If you physically assualted her that's another.

If you provide more details people MAY be able to help
you.

Domestic violence seems to be one of the CMT that can lead to a NTA. I read of a person on imminfo.com portal (Ron Gotcher's) forum with a domestic violence charge applied of N400 and not only was denied but is now is removal proceedings. My suggestion is to wait till the charge is old. Altrenatively, hire an attorney and see if you can get the charge reduced or somehow minimised then wait till 5 years of clean record then apply. Whenever you apply, take an attorney with you to the interview itself.
