My GC(I-485) was approved 10 months back. It was apporved at the local office after the case was transferred for conducting the interview. I received the plastic card too(unfortunately with a mistake). But the status on the INS site still shows that the case was transferred to local office to conduct an interview. Does it mean that the Local office has not yet passed the information back to the Sevice center after approving the case.

I am concerned only because there is a mistake in the plastic card I received. So I will have to file I-90. I am wondering whether to file I-90 on-line or at the local office.

If the information about my (I-485) case approval was not passed back to the Vermont Service center( I should doubt so since the status is not updated on-line yet, after 10 months), my I-90 as well will be transferred back to the local office even if I file on-line, this causing more delay.

But if I file I-90 at local office, I will have to go there to check the status of my I-90. That is a real pain. I have gone through it during I-485 stage.

Does any one know whether I-90 is always processed at the service center, no matter whether you file on-line or at the local office?

Thanks

Thanks JoeF for the quick reply..

Now I-90 can be filed online as well. probably it would get transferred to the local office.

Does it matter which local office I file it? I am temporarily away from my permanent address in the US. Will filing I-90 in a different local office than the one where my I-485 was approved, affect the speed of processing ?

Are the Plastic Card(GC) always issued from the service centers, irrespective of whether your case was transferred to a local office for interview or Not?

Thanks a lot for your posting. I have suffered enough at the local office during I-485. So trying to make sure that I am during the right thing this time.

JoeF, Thanks a lot man :)

Does the AR-11 application for change of address take very long to get processed? Does INS sent out any confirmation reagarding the change getting notified?

AR-11 is just notifying the INS (or whatever it is called now), so that they can track you if needed.

You address on a specific case will not be affected.

To be honest, I do not even think that the AR-11 are actually opened, or read, or entered in the system. ;)

I remember I saw a post few weeks ago where the I-90 was filed at the local office and the processing fee ($185) was waived because it was USCIS's mistake. I don't think you can take advantage of that with online filing.
