Hi all!
From the instructions in the USCIS web site I understood that step 1 need to be done by everyone and in addition to this, if there is pending case to perform step 2.
Does that mean that I can not file AR-11 on-line only, if I do not have a pending case(application)?
I was going to notify USCIS for my address change on-line.Can I do so?

"2. Non-U.S. Citizens
If you have moved, you need to follow two different steps:

Step 1: File a Form AR-11 (This changes your address in our master database.);
Step 2: If you have a pending case, you must also file a Change of Address online or call our National Customer Service Center at (800) 375-5283. (This changes your address for the specific application you have submitted.)

Please note that if you are a non-U.S. citizen and you have a pending case, you must complete both steps to make sure that you comply with the regulations and so we can reach you at your correct address."

Best Regards

Yes, you can file your AR-11 in paper or online, it's your choice. In addition, you need to give them a call saying that you'd like to change your address and you have an application pending. Homeland Security is taking steps in merging the AR-11 database with the application database, but this has not been completed. Many times, an applicant will file an AR-11 but USCIS would not know that an application is pending. If they have to mail you something, they will use whatever address they have on file based on the application, and not bother to check the AR-11 database. 90%++ of the time, the AR-11 information is used/accessed by CBP and ICE, basically to track an LPR's travel and current whereabouts but it appears that they are aiming to integrate this with USCIS application information so that you only need to do an address change in one step.

I didn't make it up and here's where I got the information --> http://www.dhs.gov/xlibrary/assets/CISOmbudsman_RR_28_Online_Change_of_Address_06-09-06.pdf

Sorry for the long-winded explanation.

Thank you sunny808.
I will go with the on-line one but also going to call them.
I am going to notify USCIS for my address change 5 years later.
I just did not know before,but have been living on the same address since I got my GC.
Do you think it would be a problem at the interview?
And should I change it now or just tell them the truth(that I did not know)?
Best Regards
