On Asylum Status Planning to Apply GC in May. Need advice.

Hello,

First of all I apologize if I am posting in the wrong section. But I am hoping someone can provide me with some answers or advice to some of the questions that I have regarding the I-485 application as well as travelling out of the US.

Per my title, I am an asylee and will be applying my GC in early May. I plan to do the medical exam late April (two weeks before I am qualified to apply for my GC).

1.) When I send in my I-485 application, do I have to include the I-693 and the medical report as well in the package? or wait till they request it? The reason I am asking is because I've done some research and different sites provide different answers.

2.) I live in CA and so I will be sending my packet to the Arizona service center. For those of you who've submitted your application in previous years, how long did it take for you to receive your approval and your GC assuming there wasn't any problem?

3.) I am planning to travel to Singapore (not the country I'm seeking asylum from) in September for a family member's wedding. I've contacted the Singapore consulate and according to them they do not accept the US RFD as a valid document and they advised me to use my passport. I'm hoping to receive the GC by then but it doesn't really solve the problem. What has others in this situation done other than not travelling? I'm planning to apply the RFD as well soon.

4.) I don't expect my application to have any problem unless my medical exam comes back with bad news. (I did a health assessment when I was granted asylum and that went fine.) Would you recommend getting a lawyer to do the application or I should be fine doing it on my own? I paid a lawyer to do my asylum application which went well but I'd hate to have the spend that much money again.

5.) Any other advice? Documents that I should not forget or should prepare for in case there's an issue.

As you can see, I'm nervous about this. Really hope it would go well when I apply. Hoping for some advice on this. Thanks in advance.

1) Here is what USCIS says: If you are applying for adjustment of status: Submit Form I-693 with your Form I-485, Application to Register for Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, as detailed in the Form I-485 instructions. Link:http://www.uscis.gov/i-693
2) According to USCIS website, the average processing time is 4 months.
3) You can't leave the U.S. until you have either GC or RTD in hand.
4) Why don't you call your asylum lawyer and ask him to give you a quote?
