check is info from AILA:
August 8, the NSC started sending every other day’s new asylum I-485 receipts to the TSC prior to data entry. Therefore, half of all new asylum I-485 cases will get SRC receipt numbers rather than LIN ones. This initiative is part of the strategy to reach the agency goal of a six-month processing time by the end of FY 06 and will continue indefinitely.
Between now and the end of next FY, the agency will have to adjudicate about 209,000 asylum I-485s to reach the goal. The TSC and VSC will join the NSC in this effort. This week, the NSC is sending 22,000 Jan-June 2002 asylum I-485 receipts to the TSC and in September will be sending approximately 20,000 Jan-June 2003 receipts to the VSC. Customers will be receiving transfer notices for those cases and future notices of action will come from those centers.
