I apologize for posting this question here but I didn't see a forum for this question.

I need to renew my passport (10 year completed). Do you think its a good idea to mail the passport to the office at DC or go in person to get it done? Have any of you guys done either of those and what do you recommend?

I, once again apologize for posting the question here. But I would really appreciate your help with this.

Thanks in advance

I submitted the passport in the morning and got my new passport the next day afternoon. DC Embassy is pretty good.

Thanks guys

Appreciate your responses. Yes. I'm planning to drive up there and get it done. Its just that its a 5 hour drive from NC and its not hte same day delivery. But that's ok. As long as I can get it the next day, I'm fine with it.

Thanks again.

I have done both. For my wife I went in person in 2001 since we lived nearby in Maryland. In 2004, having moved from MD I got my passport renewed via mail. I asked them to send it via USPS priority service and sent them the money for it. They provided me with a tracking no and the passport arrived wo any trouble.
